Thank you for visiting my page. I am a strength and conditioning specialist operating in Fairfield County, Connecticut. I operate my business mostly out of Carozza Fitness in Stamford and a few other local gyms.
I officially began this journey in 2003 as a graduate student at San Jose State University for Exercise Science; however, the roots of my interest were laid down prior to this while playing football and rugby for my alma mater, Humboldt State University. As a college athlete we spent a good portion of our lives in the weight room and I became fascinated with the science of how the human body adapts to the rigors of training. I was also lucky enough to have a strength and conditioning coach that took the time to explain to us the methodology of our program. The impact of this experience was significant enough to direct my interest into the field of strength and conditioning and complete a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology. As a graduate assistant, I was responsible for the program design of a multitude of teams at the college while completing the requirements for my major.
In the last 20 years I have worked in many different capacities within the field including assistant coaching at Yale, as well as Velocity Sports Performance in Trumbull, CT, and Equinox Fitness in Darien, CT. I was also the Strength and Conditioning Coach at Wilton High School for over 15 years. I complimented these endeavors by starting my own training business in 2011; Progressive Fitness.
I believe in a research based approach to training. Training should start with a base level of conditioning necessary for a healthful life while progressing to the specific needs of the individual. I believe in open communication between trainer and client and I welcome new ideas or thoughts about the direction that the client wishes to go. Training should be an enjoyable experience that embraces the hard work necessary for success.
